Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)Q. I never heard of ERT! A. Follow this link http://www.ertcorp.com to find out more. Remember, once upon a time, nobody had heard of Microsoft! Q. What will happen to my salary and benefits? A. For individuals staying in their current position, we honor current salary levels and you will retain your seniority on the contract for those benefits that relate to seniority. Even though our benefits are likely a little different from those of your current employer, we will work with you to and try to find a way to help with unique requirements. ERT has an almost perfect retention record for transferring employees. Q. Why would I want to work for ERT rather than somebody else? Does it make any difference? A. We pride ourselves on being the kind of company WE would want to work for. We have competitive pay and benefits, an available and understanding management team – and high technical standards. You'll be pleasantly surprised at our educational benefits – and we think they exemplify our commitment to the growth and excellence -of our technical staff. With a sustained high staff retention for the last five years, we must be doing right by our people. Q. Why does the government keep changing contractors and disrupting us all? A. The government, like any other purchaser, is free to make the best deal it can with suppliers. If the government didn't recompete contracts, they could become locked into a cost-ineffective arrangement and would have little leverage to keep us contractors on our toes. The law requires competition and companies are glad to have new opportunities arising and new challenges for their staff. But we recognize that it is disruptive – most of us have been through it and appreciate the anxiety it causes. We're ready to assist you every step of the way. |
Q. What's the timeframe for this? A. We can never be sure of the exact schedule because there are so many variables involved in issuing a request (RFP). However, we expect the RFP to be released in January 2008, the proposal to be due one month later,, and the award determination to be made around May. Once the contract is awarded, the new contractor usually has 30 days to accomplish the transition of the work and the staff. Q. This contract is a small-business set-aside, and we're always concerned that a small business may not be up to the job. What assurances can you offer us about ERT? A. ERT is an ideal company for this size and type of contract. With over 300 employees (and more on the way) we are a profitable and carefully managed company with experienced financial managers and strong oversight. Our line of credit is ample for our contract needs. Our continuing strong technical performance and win record are evidence that we are maintaining our high standards. ERT has a perfect credit score, a healthy top and bottom line, and a commitment to the welfare of its staff that keeps our turnover rate very low. We have never failed to meet any of our financial obligations. Q. Where does ERT stand on equal employment opportunities (EEO)? A. ERT treats employees and applicants for employment fairly and equably. Minorities and women are represented throughout our ranks as befits our status as a small, disadvantaged company. We are excited by the diversity of our staff. We have representatives from over a dozen countries and a culture that welcomes new friends and colleagues. What we look for is a commitment to technical excellence and focus on great customer service. Q. What about the privacy of my records and personal information during the transfer? A. ERT is very conscious of its responsibilities in protecting your personal data. We have a special HR zone in the company with its own infrastructure of copiers, faxes, and lockable offices and file cabinets. We are strict about encryption, sensitive to having unnecessary personal information on forms and highly protective of all health care information. During transition, we take special care to maintain our high standards even during an influx of new people and paperwork. We welcome your questions on our specific processes. |
