ERT Awarded Frankford Arsenal Contract

September 17, 2011—Under ERT’s contract with USACE’s Louisville district, ERT was awarded a $2.6M contract to conduct a groundwater Site Investigation and Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study (RI/FS) at the Former Frankford Arsenal (FFA) located in Philadelphia, PA. The period of performance extends from 1 July 2011 through 30 September 2013.

The objectives of the RI are to characterize the nature and extent of potential contamination in groundwater at the FFA related to past Department of Defense (DoD) activities, to evaluate the potential for unacceptable risks to human health and ecological resources from exposure to such contaminants, and if warranted identify preliminary cleanup goals. The objective of the FS is to ensure that, in the event that remediation is warranted, remedial alternatives are developed and evaluated with regard to risk reduction effectiveness and to environmental impacts associated with remedy implementation and operation. The objective of remedial actions at the site is to promote future development and multipurpose use for the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS).
